Privacy and security policy for customer data

  • As operators of a small-scale accommodation facility, we welcome many guests, each with their own identity. It is important that this identity is protected. Everyone has the right to privacy, and it is important that you know that the personal data we receive from our guests is treated with the necessary care.
  • Below, you can read what data we request/obtain from our guests and why we need it. You will also learn what we do with your data, how it is stored, and how long we keep it.
  • Information we obtain is NOT shared with third parties, except as required by Belgian law.

What personal data does Bed & Breakfast Exterlaer collect?

When you stay at Bed and Breakfast Exterlaer, you become our “customer.” This means that we need certain information from you at various times:

  • contact details (e.g., last name, first name, address, telephone number, email address),
  • personal details (e.g., date of birth, nationality),
  • information about your children if they are staying with us (e.g., first name, date of birth),
  • your arrival and departure dates/times,
  • your preferences and interests (e.g., whether you want separate beds or bicycles),
  • your questions/comments/findings during or after your stay with us.
  • Information relating to persons under the age of 18 is limited to their name, place of birth, and date of birth. This information can only be provided to us by an adult.
  • We do not collect sensitive information, such as data on race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health, or sexual orientation. Our website does not place cookies.

What about the storage of your personal data?

We do everything possible to keep your data secure during the period that we use it. Your data will be deleted as soon as this is possible.

  • We assume that if an information request has not led to an effective reservation within one year, this data is no longer relevant and can therefore be deleted.
  • The Belgian law of March 1, 2007, and the Royal Decree of April 27, 2007, require us to keep the guest forms filled out at check-in for 7 years.
  • Belgian law requires us to keep all accounting and tax documents (including the personal data mentioned therein) for 7 years.
  • Given their relevance, all personal data provided at the time of booking will also be retained for 7 years.
  • You have access to your personal data.
  • You can ask us at any time what personal data we hold about you and you can modify or delete it, insofar as Belgian law allows us to do so.
